Gypsy brewing since: August 2018
Brewers: Cristian Butulan & Geo Drăgan
It’s not often that we get a chance to talk with the new kids on the block and hear their stories straight from the brewer’s mouth, but when we do, we’re going to serve them as they come.
“As all the proper brewer stories, it all begun with big hopes, lots of home-brewing and of course our two heroes, the dead men – Geo and Cristi, shady fellows with a thirst for beer and knowledge.
Free of constraints or boundaries given by gypsy brewing philosophy, the Dead Men are drawing bold recipes and raise the awareness of indie beer.
Behold Genesis, first of his name, crafted and dry-hopped in the courtyard of Three Happy Brewers, brought into this world on August 11th during a time of great feast and celebration.
More to come soon, this is mere the beginning!”
In the year since opening, Dead Men Hops have slowly grown their range of gypsy brews, and in the autumn of 2019 they even started tackling darker styles and higher ABVs, with their imperial dark lager.
In the summer of 2020, following a period of temporary closure of Three Happy Brewers, Dead Men Hops packed their recipes and took their shenanigans over to Anagram, who have previously been their colleagues in gypsy brewing at the same parent brewery.
Their beers are available on tap or in 330ml bottles predominantly around Bucharest. You can also find them online, on Berero Store, but for a list of where to grab their beers around the country, check out their website.
